Overview
The Keyword Matching feature in the Protect section identifies trademarks that match or closely resemble your word marks. It automatically uses the word marks you have tracked in the platform and searches for any trademark containing those keywords in any part of the brand name.
How Keyword Matching Works
The system takes the word marks configured in your Track section and searches for filed trademarks that contain those keywords anywhere in the brand name — at the beginning, middle, or end. Results are ranked by similarity score.
Example 1: Word mark — NEST
The tool surfaces trademarks such as:
NESTIAL TECHNOLOGIES — 92.5% similarity
Nestify "Style. Simp" — 92.5% similarity
Both contain the keyword NEST within the brand name and are flagged as potential threats in Class 35.
Example 2: Word mark — DEVICE OF (logo mark)
The tool surfaces trademarks such as:
PUNAHCHAKRA — 87.5% similarity
PRIME POLYCHEM — 87.5% similarity
PANCHRATNA SKYLINE — 87.5% similarity
Device of petals, line — 87.5% similarity
These are image-based device marks that visually resemble your device mark, surfaced under keyword matching based on the device description.
Reading the Results
Each result in the Keyword Matching view shows:
My Image — your trademark image
My Class — your trademark class
My Mark — your word mark
Threat Mark — the name of the potentially conflicting trademark
Similarity — percentage similarity score
Threat Image — image of the threat mark
Threat Class — class of the threat mark
Threat Prop. Name — proprietor name of the threat mark
Threat Status — current filing status (e.g. Send To Vienna Codification)
Threat DOA — date of application of the threat mark
Actions — Send To Vienna Codification, refresh, and + to track
Filtering Results
Use the filter tabs at the top to refine results:
Recently Filed — limits results to marks filed in the last seven days
Last 20 Journals — shows marks from the last 20 trademark journals
Same Class — shows threat marks in the same class as yours
Diff. Class — shows threat marks in a different class
Best Practices
Keep your word marks up to date in the Track section to ensure the keyword matching results remain accurate.
Review results regularly and use the refresh icon on any row to get the latest status for a specific threat mark.
Click on any row to open the Mark Comparison panel for a detailed side-by-side view of your mark and the threat mark.
