What are Codex Artifacts?

Codex Artifacts are a side workspace inside Codex where contract drafts open as fully formatted, usable documents instead of plain text responses.

When you generate a draft such as a clause, agreement, or summary, it can be opened in the Artifact panel, allowing you to work on it as a document, not just a response.

This means you can view, edit, and refine contracts directly within Codex, without moving content to external tools.

Why use Codex Artifacts?

Contract drafting and review usually involve multiple steps:

  • Generating a draft

  • Copying it into another editor

  • Making changes

  • Repeating the process for every update

This creates friction and breaks workflow continuity.

Codex Artifacts remove this gap by:

  • Keeping drafting and editing in one place

  • Allowing real-time updates using AI

  • Maintaining context across iterations

This results in faster and more consistent contract workflows.

What can you do with Artifacts?

Artifacts are designed for end-to-end contract drafting and refinement.

You can:

  • Draft agreements, clauses, and notices

  • Edit contract content directly

  • Refine language using AI

  • Create multiple versions of a document

  • Finalise and export contracts

This makes Artifacts ideal for both initial drafting and iterative review.

How Codex Artifacts work

Artifacts are created when Codex generates a structured draft.

Workflow:

  1. Enter your requirement in Codex (e.g., draft a clause or agreement)

  2. A structured draft is generated

  3. Click Open to view it in the Artifact workspace

  4. The document appears in a formatted layout

From here:

  • Use View mode to review the formatted contract

  • Switch to Edit mode to make manual changes

  • Use the prompt bar to ask AI for updates

Each AI update creates a new version, allowing you to track and refine changes over time.

Step-by-Step: Use Codex Artifacts

1. Go to Codex

2. Enter your requirement in simple language

3. Submit the prompt

4. A structured draft will be generated

5. Click Open to view the draft in the Artifact (side workspace)

6. Inside the Artifact:

  • Use View mode to review the formatted contract

  • Switch to Edit mode to make changes

7. Use the prompt bar to request updates (e.g., modify clauses, simplify language)

8. A new version of the document will be created

9. Open any version to continue editing or refining

10. Once finalised, you can:

  • Copy

  • Download

  • Share the document
