New Cases Detail Page

A guide to navigating and managing case information on the New Cases Detail Page in the Litigation Management Tool.

Written by Akshat Singhal

Overview

The New Cases Detail Page gives you a comprehensive view of all available information for a case identified by the system. It is divided into three tabs -- Details, Hearings, and Orders -- and includes a Legistify AI panel on the right for quick actions and AI-powered tools.

Here’s a breakdown of the key features and how you can navigate through them.

Accessing the Detail Page

Click on any case from the New Cases list to open its detail page.

Case Header

At the top of the page, you will find the following information:

  • Case title and party names

  • Case number (Num) and Diary Number

  • Court name and Court Number and Judge

  • Registration Number and Filing Number

  • Date of Registration and Date of Filing

Details Tab

The Details tab is open by default and contains two sections:

Case Details Displays the Case Stage, Next Date of Hearing, Court Number and Judge, and the Act under which the case is filed.

Parties Involved Lists all parties associated with the case, along with their role (Complainant or Respondent) and their advocate's name where available.

Hearings Tab

Click the Hearings tab to view all hearings associated with the case. Each entry displays the hearing date, court, and judge. Click the eye icon to view the detailed proceedings of a specific hearing.

Orders Tab

Click the Orders tab to view all orders and judgments issued for the case. Each entry displays the document name, the date it was uploaded, and who uploaded it. Click the download icon to save a copy of the order, or the eye icon to preview it.

Actions Menu

Click the hamburger icon (≡) at the top of the Legistify AI panel to open the Actions menu. The following options are available:

Add Case to Tracker Adds the case to your My Cases section for ongoing tracking and updates.

Map to Existing Case Links this case to a manually added case already in your My Cases section.

Remove from List Removes the case from your New Cases list if it is not relevant to your organisation.

Update Now Fetches the latest available information for the case from the court database.

Legistify AI Panel

The AI panel on the right side of the page provides the following tools:

  • Add Case to Tracker -- adds the case to My Cases directly from the panel

  • Translate Files -- translates case documents into your preferred language

  • Summarise Files -- generates a summary of the case documents

  • Case Summary -- generates an AI-powered summary of the overall case

You can also type a question directly into the Ask Legistify AI input at the bottom of the panel. Note that AI outputs are built to assist and do not constitute legal advice.

Conclusion

The New Cases Detail Page brings together all publicly available case information in one place, making it easier to assess relevance and take action without switching between screens. Using the Actions menu and Legistify AI panel together helps you process new cases quickly and accurately.
