Context
Managing a patent portfolio means staying on top of a lot of information across multiple applications. The AI Generated Summary feature in Legistify AI gives you an instant, structured overview of a patent — covering its filing details, applicant and inventor information, claim scope, and current prosecution stage — without having to read through the full record manually.
How to Generate a Patent Summary
Step 1: Go to the Patent Section
From the left-hand navigation bar, click on Patent.
Step 2: Find the Relevant Patent
On the patent listing page, locate the patent you want to summarise. Use the search bar or scroll through the list to find it by application number, title, or applicant name.
Step 3: Open the Patent Details Page
Click on the patent to open its details page.
Step 4: Access the Legistify AI Panel
The Legistify AI panel is available on the right side of the patent details page. It opens automatically and displays the AI Generated Summary by default.
Step 5: View the Generated Summary
The AI Generated Summary is displayed at the top of the Legistify AI panel, providing a concise overview of the patent's key details instantly.
Understanding Your AI-Generated Patent Summary
The AI-generated summary extracts and presents the most important information about the patent. Here is a general overview of what it covers:
1. Filing Details
Application Number
Filing Date
Appropriate Patent Office
2. Applicant and Inventor Information
Name of the applicant or assignee
Name(s) of the inventor(s)
3. Patent Details
Title of the invention
International Patent Classification (IPC) codes
Type of application (e.g., ordinary, PCT national phase, divisional)
4. Claim Overview
A brief description of the scope of the invention as claimed
5. Current Status
The current prosecution stage (e.g., Filed, Under Examination, Objected, Granted, Abandoned)
6. Key Dates
Grant date, renewal dates, and other significant dates where available

Regenerate Summary
Click Regenerate Summary to refresh the summary if the patent's status or documents have been updated since the last generation. This ensures the summary always reflects the latest available information.

Click Download to export the AI-generated summary as a PDF for offline access or to share with your team or clients.
