Overview

When you open a contract document in the OnlyOffice editor within the Contract Management Tool, the Legistify AI panel is available on the left side of the editor. It gives you a set of AI-powered tools to analyse and work with the contract directly from within the document, without switching to another tab or tool.

The panel opens automatically when you launch the editor. You can collapse it using the arrow icon at the top, or close it using the X icon.

Home Screen

The home screen of the Legistify AI panel displays six action buttons:

  • Run AI Playbook — run your organisation's AI playbook rules against the contract

  • Extract Obligations — identify and list all obligations in the contract

  • Identify Key Clauses — extract and display the key clauses in the document

  • Summarise Draft — generate a structured summary of the contract

  • Clause Library — access your organisation's saved clauses

  • Clause Approval — manage clause approvals for the current document

At the bottom of the panel is the Ask Legistify AI input where you can type any question or instruction about the contract directly. Click the + button to access additional options and the send button to submit your prompt.

Suggested Questions

When you click into the Ask Legistify AI input at the bottom of the panel, a Suggested Questions screen appears with pre-built questions based on common contract review tasks. Click any question to run it instantly against the open document without typing.

The suggested questions include:

  • What are the key commercial terms (pricing, duration, renewal, scope of services)?

  • What are the main obligations and responsibilities of each party?

  • What are the payment terms, milestones, and penalties for late payment?

  • Are there any termination clauses, and under what conditions can the contract be ended?

  • What risks exist in this contract (liability, indemnity, warranties, limitations)?

  • Are there any confidentiality, data protection, or IP ownership clauses?

  • What approvals, notices, or actions are required to stay compliant?

  • Are there any auto-renewal, escalation, or amendment clauses?

Run AI Playbook

Click Run AI Playbook from the home screen to open the AI Playbook panel. It displays a list of all available playbooks in your organisation, each showing the playbook name and number of rules configured. Click the play button next to any playbook to run it against the open contract.

Once the playbook runs, the results are displayed with each guideline listed alongside a status:

  • Met — the contract satisfies this guideline

  • Not Met — the contract does not satisfy this guideline

  • N/A — the guideline is not applicable to this contract

Use the filter tabs at the top (All, Met, Not Met, and N/A) to focus on specific results. This makes it easy to identify gaps and non-compliant clauses at a glance.

Click + New to create a new playbook directly from within the editor.

Extract Obligations

Click Extract Obligations from the home screen to run an AI extraction of all obligations present in the contract. The panel displays a structured list of obligations organised by party, with numbered entries and full text for each obligation identified.

Use the refresh icon to re-run the extraction, and the copy icon to copy the output to your clipboard.

Identify Key Clauses

Click Identify Key Clauses from the home screen to extract and display the key clauses from the contract. Each clause is shown with a heading and the full clause text extracted from the document.

Use the refresh icon to re-run the extraction, and the copy icon to copy the output to your clipboard.

Summarise Draft

Click Summarise Draft from the home screen to generate a structured summary of the contract. The summary includes sections such as parties involved, key terms and definitions, obligations, and other material provisions, all extracted from the actual document content.

Use the refresh icon to regenerate the summary, and the copy icon to copy it to your clipboard.

Clause Library

Click Clause Library from the home screen to open your organisation's saved clause library. Use the search bar to find any clause by name. Clauses are listed in a collapsible format — click any entry to expand and view the clause text.

Click the + button to add a new clause to the library directly from within the editor. The three-dot menu next to the search bar provides additional management options.

Clause Approval

Click Clause Approval from the home screen to manage clause-level approvals for the current contract. Click + New Approval to initiate a new clause approval request. Existing clause approvals for the document are listed here once created.

Ask Legistify AI

At the bottom of every panel view, the Ask Legistify AI input lets you ask any question or give any instruction about the contract in plain language. For example:

  • What is the governing law clause in this contract?

  • Summarise the termination conditions.

  • Does this contract include an indemnity clause?

Type your prompt and click the send button. Codex will respond based on the content of the open document.

Conclusion

The Legistify AI plugin in OnlyOffice brings contract intelligence directly into your editing workflow. From extracting obligations and key clauses to running playbooks and accessing your clause library, every AI action is available without leaving the document, making contract review faster and more structured for your legal team.
