Overview

The Document Verification feature lets you verify the authenticity of documents uploaded to a case, directly from the Docs tab. Select Verify from the document’s menu, choose the document type, enter the required details where applicable, and run the verification. The result comes from official records through Legistify eKYC, and the document is marked Verified once it passes.

Supported Document Types

  • PAN

  • Aadhaar

  • GSTIN

  • CIN / MCA

  • Bank account

How to Verify a Document

1. Open a case and go to the Docs tab.

2. Click the three-dot menu on the document you want to verify.

3. Select Verify from the menu.

4. The Verify a Document panel opens on the right. The document name is shown at the top.

5. Under 1. Document Type, choose the type of document.

6. For GSTIN, CIN / MCA, and Bank account, enter the required number in the field that appears. Bank account also requires the IFSC code. For PAN and Aadhaar, no number entry is needed — verification is done from the uploaded file directly. Only PDF and image files are supported for PAN and Aadhaar.

7. Click Run Verification. Click Cancel to close the panel without verifying.

Verification Results

When verification finishes, the Doc Verification panel shows the result.

If it succeeds, you will see:

  • Verified against source: confirmation that the document matches the official record

  • Verification details: the detected document type and the verification source, Legistify eKYC

  • Details: the information from the official record. The fields depend on the document type — for example, Aadhaar verification returns the Aadhaar number, name, and date of birth.

  • Audit: the name of the person who requested the verification, the date and time it was run, and a reference ID.

The document in the list then shows a Verified badge next to its name.

Click Re-verify to run the verification again.

You can also download a verification report for any verified document.

Click the Verified badge next to a document’s name to view the result and past verification runs.

A failed verification does not show a Verified badge on the document.

Things to Note

  • Document Verification is available only to users with the document verification permission.

  • Court orders and documents without an attached file cannot be verified.

  • Each organisation receives 25 eKYC credits by default. 1 credit is consumed per verification and is returned only if the verification service fails. If credits are insufficient, verification will not start.

Key Benefits

  • Quick and convenient document verification without leaving the platform

  • Helps validate the information in uploaded documents

  • A clear Verified status on each document

  • Available directly in the existing Documents workflow

Conclusion

Document Verification brings document checks into your case workflow. Instead of verifying documents manually outside the platform, you can confirm them in seconds and keep a clear record of which documents have been verified, who verified them, and when.
